Amusement Parks In Southern California

Amusement Parks in Southern California

Southern California offers numerous amusement parks, so here are the popular/well-known parks. Not all of the amusement parks listed here have a water park. Our main focus is to let you know where the famous non-water amusement parks are located. Most of these amusement parks in Southern California will keep you dry unless you get on a water ride.

Disneyland (Anaheim, CA)

Disneyland is considered “The Happiest Place On Earth.” It is family friendly and fun for all ages. Although the park has a lot of rides suited for kids, there are multiple thrilling rides fitted for those seeking high-drop roller coasters. If rides are not your thing, you might find Mickey and Minnie wandering around this amusement park. As you explore the park, you will begin to see more and more Disney characters. When you are there, do not forget to take photos with them. After a long day worth of fun, you can enjoy stage shows, late-night fireworks, or take a break and relax in a Disneyland hotel. This is truly one of the many amusement parks that can live up to its title.

Disney California Adventure (Anaheim, CA)

Just across from Disneyland, there is more! Although this park is smaller than its main park, it’s still pack with fun, well, mostly for those who can handle thrill rides. There is definitely less kiddy rides here. The park has less people meaning that the lines are not super long and more walk room. This new addition is a must go and be explored!

Amusement parks in Southern California, downtown disney

Downtown Disney (Anaheim, CA)

Downtown Disney is not really an amusement park, but it is a must see and go to. Parking (2 hour free parking) and entrance is free. There are plenty of shops and eateries. Perfect for taking a date out or an evening stroll with the kids. Once in awhile you will get live performances and you’ll be amazed what there will be. There is a lot of Disney fun around you even though you are not in the park. Overall, there is nothing to complain about since it’s free, unless you accidentally buy too much stuff.

Amusement parks in Southern California, six flags magic mountain

Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, CA)

Six Flags is definitely not for most kids. It holds the most roller coasters out of all the parks. Most rides will have multiple loops and high drops. For those who have a weak stomach, you are warned. Six Flags rides will give you the adrenaline that you want! Although there are a lot of adrenaline-pumping rides, it is not completely an adult zone; there are a handful of kiddie rides just to make sure kids can have fun. But if your kids are tagging along, then I recommend Universal Studios or Disneyland.

Amusement parks in Southern California, universal studios hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood (Universal City, CA)

This park is known as the Entertainment Capital of Los Angeles. The movies you have seen are now a ride for you to enjoy. Want to see transforming cars? Hope on the Transformers ride. Want to see dinosaurs? Jurassic Park is where you should go (caution: you might get wet). The park’s new addition is Wizarding World of Harry Potter. For those who are Harry Potter fans, it is a must see! If you are still hesitating to go to Universal Studios, then I advise you to check out the tickets online because usually there are discounts. In addition, in October, there are always Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) for those who want more thrill and want to be fill with terror.
